Biography

Hi! I'm Zhean Robby L. Ganituen, also known as zrygan.

I'm a Computer Science junior at De La Salle University, Manila.

I am also a tutor and a researcher (click the Academics button).

I split my time between Metro Manila and the Detroit Metro Area, depending on the university calendar. For my current timezone, check whichever timezone is highlighted on the right.

Programming

For my interests and current project go to Academics

I regularly work with Rust, Python, and OCaml, but I also have worked on C, C++, Go, and Java.

You can check out my programming projects on my GitHub profile.

Here are some of my best projects: Raytracer, Symbolang, and a Error Checking for Tagalog and Bikol Language (repository, paper).

Competitive Programming

I have experience with competitive programming and have participated in contests, though I no longer compete actively.

For competitive programming resources, I maintain a GitHub repository. You can also find my profiles on Kattis and Codeforces but these are most likely empty!

Sadly/Thankfully I don't do much programming these days, as I focus more on research.

Academics

Research Interests

Lately, I have been exploring the following.

  1. Parallel algorithms: their implementations and applications, and the programming languages that support them.
  2. Machine learning (theory): the bounds of machine learning algorithms.
  3. Computational linguistics: the computational complexity of Filipino, phonetic algorithms for Filipino, and machine learning techniques. I belong to a group being advised by Nathaniel Oco, also see our GitHub organization.

In general, I enjoy anything that floats around Theoretical Computer Science, especially when they intersect with real-world applications or other fields.

Blog

I also write a blog called \( \forall i \in \textbf{KB} \), where I discuss topics in theoretical computer science in a casual, "unserious" tone.

Tutoring

I'm a tutor and currently serve as the Associate Vice President for Activities at my university's Peer Tutors' Society.

I primarily tutor theoretical subjects:

  • Discrete Mathematics
  • Introduction to Data Structures and Algorithms
  • Design and Analysis of Algorithms
  • Theory of Computation
  • Programming Language Theory

As well as C and Java programming.
