Biography

Hi! I'm Zhean Robby L. Ganituen, also known as zrygan.

I'm a Computer Science junior at De La Salle University, Manila.

I am also a tutor and a researcher (click the Academics button).

I split my time between Metro Manila and the Detroit Metro Area, depending on the university calendar.

Programming

I regularly work with C, C++, Go, Rust, and Java.

Occasionally, I also use Python for specific projects.

You can check out my programming projects on my GitHub profile.

Some of my best projects include the Raytracer.

Currently, I am working on a Symbolang, an emoji based programming language.

Competitive Programming

I have experience with competitive programming and have participated in contests, though I no longer compete actively.

For competitive programming resources, I maintain a GitHub repository. You can also find my profiles on Kattis and Codeforces but these are most likely empty!

Sadly/Thankfully I don't do much programming these days, as I focus more on research.

However, I still maintain some personal projects, but they emphasize theory and high-performance computing more than software development.

Academics

Research Interests

Lately, I've been exploring two things.

  1. High-performance computing: the programming languages that support them, parallel computing and algorithms.
  2. Morpholigically Rich Languages: their computational complexity, and a phonetic algorithm for Tagalog. I belong to a group being advised by Nathaniel Oco.

In general, I enjoy discussing and researching topics in Theoretical Computer Science, especially when they intersect with real-world applications or other fields.

I'm especially interested in real-world puzzles that can be efficiently solved through creative applications of algorithms and data structures.

My previous work spanned the following topics:

  • Numeric algorithms and geometry
  • Computational complexity
  • Computational puzzles

Blog

I also write a blog called \( \forall i \in \textbf{KB} \), where I discuss topics in theoretical computer science in a casual, "unserious" tone.

Tutoring

I'm a tutor and currently serve as the Associate Vice President for Activities at my university's Peer Tutors' Society.

I primarily tutor theoretical subjects:

  • Discrete Mathematics
  • Introduction to Data Structures and Algorithms
  • Design and Analysis of Algorithms
  • Theory of Computation
  • Programming Language Theory

As well as C and Java programming.
